Travel: London, United Kingdom
This one was a different trip. This didn't feel like the London of last year, it felt different this time. A bit wilder, a bit rougher. Full of people, jostling and pushing their way to get to Christmas and New Years. It was cold and busy. Maybe it was that spirit of New Year that brought everyone into the city. It certainly felt like everyone and their dog was in the city. For someone who has been to and comes from a busy city, I don’t know what that was. Let’s call it an experience. For sure. We did a few tours this time. Following behind people as we learned about the places where Harry Potter was filmed and where different classic rock artists lived, breathed, created, and died. We rang in the new year with Rose Prosecco and chocolate truffles, dressed in pyjamas in dim hotel rooms. Watching the fireworks display from the comfort of the warm inside, kissing cheeks goodnight, and then wandering back to our separate rooms. We did London cabs and train rides to airports. Experienced the mess that is Gatwick Airport for the first and last time. Walked through Hyde Park to count dogs and get accosted by birds. But oh what a story we could tell.
