A Sweet Cabin Getaway
So for two days a friend and I headed out to the wilderness, well… 3 hours out of Sydney to go on a little cabin getaway and stay in one of these unyoked cabins. Unyoked is a company that is known for championing being in nature, being sustainable, and going out into nature to sit in the silence of yourself and the environment. To create, to rest, and just get away from the hustle and bustle of life and work. Which let me tell you is right up my alley. I despise this idea and the practice of hustle culture. More on that later. These cabins that unyoked have can also be the perfect little honeymoon getaway or even anniversary present. So here are some beautiful little details from our little cabin getaway. Which could also be your little cabin getaway.
Most of these cabins fit two people. So it is nice and cozy. Some of these cabins have zero cell service. So you are there with yourself and your partner and what better way to connect with your partner than to be their only point of contact. (: Every single detail of this cabin was well thought out and intentional and you really did not have to worry. There was enough space for everyone to have their own space. Enough room to cook meals. Sit down and drink wine and have intense conversations about the queen (don't judge. we were very passionate about the subject.
The one thing that you would have to do though is to make sure you have all your meals sorted for the amount of time you are going to be there. I am firmly in the camp of it's better to have more food than less. But if you are not a chef, then just simple foods are always the best. Get some fruit, pasta, and sauce, bread and avocado, and eggs. Nice and simple but still good.
There was definitely a lot of journaling and reading happening. Because where else would you go that is quiet enough that you can actually hear yourself think? I mean sometimes I don't really want to hear my own thoughts because it can get pretty wild up there. But most of the time I am up for speaking and listening to my own mind. But like I said before, the cabin is quiet, and the outside is quiet. If you need space one person can be outside and the other inside. Or you can both introvert together.
One of the main necessities of my world. Coffee. Mmmm. I was so happy that they provided coffee and all these wonderful ways of making coffee. Pourover. French Press. Stovetop. And the lovely lovely beans.
But one of the best parts of the whole cabin trip was just waking up with the sun to the clouds and mist living down in the valley. It is surreal and silent. You can make coffee and then curl up in bed with a good book. There is no rush to be anywhere or to do anything. That to me sounds like the best holiday. Trust me, I didn't want to come back.
